A Study on Nutritional Status of Persons Over 40 Age in Whachon Area, Kang-Won do

Abstract

|
This study was carried out to know the nutritional status of 188 persons, 98 males and 90 females, aged 40 years and over from July 1 to July 30, 1992 in whachon area, kang-won do. The height and weight were decreased according to the age in both sexes, whereas body mass index (BMI) was not significantly changed, obesity rate of males and females were 6.l%, 5.6, respectively. The systolic blood pressure was increased according to the age in both sexes. Also the incidence of the systolic hypertension was increased according to the increase of age in both sexes. Daily energy intake was not sufficient as 79-90% or recommended dietary allowances (RDA). The energy input percentage of carbohydrate, fat, protein was 77:10:13, showing higher dependance on carbohydrate. The protein intake was 79-101% of move RDA, whereas the fat intake was 50% far below of national mean intake, mean intake of Ca and vitamin B1, were lower than RDA, intake of calorie and nutrients were not different within age groups.
